Blogroll

Back in business

Let me tell you a little about my blogging beliefs.

I personally enjoy blogs very much. Half my book marks are blogs. Family blogs, friend’s blogs, stranger’s who have enjoyable writing skills and cool pictures. I frequent my bookmarked blogs at least once a day and let me tell you… updated blogs with new posts make me very happy. I think if you’re going to blog you have an obligation. An obligation to update your blog often. A Blogligation!! Yes! Because old abandoned blogs that sit around without updates make me mad!

Now you may be thinking to yourself. BUT HEATHER! I myself have a blog that I do not constantly update. I post when I can, but I find myself letting it go for days… maybe weeks between posts sometimes. Does this mean you are mad at me? Let me assure you… yes. Yes it does mean that. You slacker! I take my time out of my busy internet surfing day to visit your blog and the least you can do is have something interesting for me to read. I’m not asking for much. Just a little tidbit. I’m not a total hard ass, a few sentences would suffice.

At this point you may be thinking… BUT HEATHER your own blog has gone unupdated since November! You’re a hypocrite! Let me assure you… Yes. Yes I am. BUT I knew I didn’t have it in me for a few months so I just stopped all together. I made some plans for future blogging and I came back when I was prepared to make a conscious effort to maintain a busy and updated page.

Now at this point. Besides being amazed about my uncanny skills at determining what you’re thinking. You may be thinking… BUT HEATHER! How do I know what an appropriate amount of updating is? How often is often enough? Well… let me break it down for you!

How much is too much?

I’d like to say there is no such thing. But that isn’t true. I think as many posts as you can fit on your front page in one day is the maximum. As much as I love visiting, I don’t want to be flipping through page after page. I have other things to do today you know. So no need to keep a play by play of every movement you make.

What is the ideal amount?

I think the perfect amount is one blog a day, and maybe 5 a week. See? I’m a reasonable person! Take the weekend off! Or any day or two a week you feel you have nothing to offer the blogging community. That’s fine! But 5 or more times a week means I have something to read on most given days and I appreciate that.

What is th bare minimum?

I’m going to be straight with you here. If you don’t update once a week I’m not going to be checking anymore! I get too sad clicking on that page every day to see the same post that’s been at the top of your page for over 7 days in a row. And I know you have time to throw out a simple post or two once a week. I KNOW you do! No matter what, I’m not even going to pretend to believe you don’t.

So that’s it! Now I hope you have a firm grasp on my blogging beliefs. And I fully intend on holding myself up to these standards. I’m going to consolidate most of my picture and random posting to this page so that it is easier on myself and it stays busy.

So feel free to visit daily knowing I have a blogligation to you!

xoxo

Hi, in order to deal with blogs that don’t update often, and blogs in general, use RSS.

If you’d like a free and easy reader, use Google Reader at http://www.google.com/reader.

This way, you will only see things that are new, and you don’t have to re-visit sites every day. You go to one place, and read them there.

PS – Soul is spelled soul, and we make a conscious effort.
